Today was a very hard day for me as I had to make this decision. It was the best choice to make as reasonable options were slowly being eliminated. Below is my official letter of resignation to the Lingerie Football League. Please read it and accept my apologies to any fans who looked forward to seeing me be a part of this team. I thank you for your continuing support!
Love,
Hemi
Hi Heather,
After careful thought and consideration, I regretfully have to announce that at this time, it is not in my best interest to switch to the New York team. As much as I would like to be a part of this league, there are just too many unknown factors that have been taken into consideration. It is not feasible for me to relocate to New York with the current economic status, combined with my personal finances. At this time, I can not financially support myself commuting to and from New York weekly, while keeping up with my regular monthly expenses as well as my job, without completely knowing what I am going to get out of it, other then PR. The most important factor to me is a contractual agreement. In such said case, I will be traveling to and from New York for camps and league promotion, yet without a contract stating that I have an official spot on the roster. It is also known that even after official roster standings, there is still the possibility that I could be one of the benched players. If I understand correctly, benched players do not receive compensation; please correct me if I am mistaken. To travel to and from New York on this basis is not in my best interest.
I know that the compensation is based on a percentage of the ticket sales, but there is no guarantee on the amount of tickets that we will actually sell. In the event that we did have a sold out arena, my expenses alone for being a part of the team would out weigh my compensation due to traveling, and room and board. I have managed to obtain my job here in Massachusetts, and I am lucky to do so considering the current economic crisis. To relocate to another state and look for work during a time when the unemployment rate exceeds the employed is not a realistic or promising decision to make in my career, especially being employed with my company for 6 years. Had the team stayed in New England, it would have fit perfectly in my schedule and there would have been no issues whatsoever.
Another factor that I have taken into consideration is health insurance. I do have health benefits through my job, however if I move to New York, I would not only lose my job that I have struggled to keep, but I would lose my health insurance as well. Upon researching to obtain personal health insurance, I have concluded that it would not be beneficial to do so, as benefits would not apply in the event that I am injured while playing or practicing in an organized sport, especially in another state. Given the fact that my current and legal residence is in Massachusetts I would have to obtain health insurance from this state. Since contracts will not be given out until July when all of the training camps have successfully been executed and players have been officially selected, should I get injured participating in training camps prior to contracts, it is to my knowledge that I am responsible for any medical bills that I may incur. This is also a very big financial risk for me to take on, aside from having put forth all of my other expenses.
While the publicity was appreciated, press can not be put in my wallet. It seems that I have already come out of pocket to be a part of this league and I can not continue to do so. This is the most honest & sincere decision that I can make. With everything in mind, I would like to say that I need to wait out the inaugural LFL season while anticipating the possible return of the New England Euphoria. Drawing a fan base from New England while playing for a New York team would not only be difficult, but it would be unfair and would take away from the team, as I would not be able to successfully contribute to the goal of ticket sales and promotion. The fans of New England are true to themselves and their teams, and I would like to remain a part of New England as this is my home. I am a New England fan and forever will be. I am sorry to have to come to this decision but it is in the best interest of myself, the New York Majesty and their fans. If there is something else within the league that I can do, please let me know and I would be glad to consider it. If not, then maybe New England will see you next year.
Respectfully,
Melissa Anne Teixeira

O.o
Wow sucks ass. You’d think
they pay for your travel needs
instead of traveling everywhere
and not even get any money out of the
deal. That’s just messed. I’d quit to if it were me.
