Well… I really have to get on top of this blog thing! Call me a SLACKER, but not really! This government controlling big business thing has really involved itself in my life to the fullest extent. This “Cash for Clunkers” deal has in-fact sparked car sales, which will eventually fuel the economy, but it will lead to inflation once again. But rather then it be houses, this time it will be cars. Thanks to the government, the value of my car just went up! Nice job NObama! Supply and demand baby supply and demand! The value of all used cars have suddenly re-gained their value and the demand for them has exceeded what is available. In the 6 years that I have been selling cars, I have never seen the industry suddenly just explode out of nowhere. This month alone we are probably going to see the best month we’ve had in about 7 or 8 years. Let the inflation of the car business begin!
The funny thing about this cash for clunkers thing is that some people really don’t realize that there is WAY more to this whole idea then what’s just shown on the surface. While it’s all well and good because its contributing to bettering the economy, they (the government) didn’t fully prepare themselves for the big rush; supply and demand. They left out the most important part of the whole deal; to inform the public that not only does the bank have to approve your deal (if your financing), but the government does too!! And so we have two full rows of cars out back and a stack of paperwork waiting to be approved by the government. So really no one officially has gotten a cash for clunker deal because the government hasn’t actually approved any of them yet! Why? Because they are overwhelmed with the response to their stimulus package in the automotive world. I wonder what they are doing in California, they are probably sending dealers “I owe you’s”! And I wonder what they are going to do in Massachusetts, because we have written up all of these deals in the month of July when the sales tax was 5%, and as of August 1st 2009, the state sales tax is going up to 6.25%! I highly doubt that the government is going to get around to all of the deals awaiting them before August 1st in TAXachusetts. How smart are they? I’m going to laugh if there going to make the customers pay the difference in the sales tax because if they do, well then that just means another round of waiting around for bank approvals because the figures have changed. And this is the same government that just realized that paper has two sides!
Like I said, this cash for clunkers deal is all well and good because it has created a supply and demand in the car business and we are starting to make money again, but at the same time, I am sort of hating on the idea.
Why? Well, this just means that this is the beginning of the end for the ICE (Internal combustion engine), which means no more HEMI.
Since we are on the verge of letting the government control what we are allowed to drive, they are going to make sure that in the future, none of the internal combustion engines exist. And they are doing so by using the “Cash for Clunkers” idea. So here’s how it works: You have a “clunker”, you bring it to a dealership to trade it in towards something that gets better fuel economy (a smaller engine) and the governemnt gives you money off of your new vehicle purchase. The government basically decides what your car is worth and the dealer takes the money off of the top and waits for the government to send them a check. Once the deal is approved and a check has been cut to the dealer, the dealer is required by the government to seize the engine!!!!!! That’s right SEIZE THE ENGINE. Nope lets not save it for parts because you won’t be needing them for a non-existent engine! Lets just pour a solution in it so it never works again. (By the way, the “special solution” that is poured into the engine has to come from a vendor approved by the government!!! Again, government controls big business!) The fun part? CRUSHING THE BODY! Each of the clunkers get DEMOLISHED!!!! Gone FOREVER! Crushed into a tin can! Kinda cool, but not really….
Of course history always prevails and we evolve into the bigger and the better. Our generation is going to be the last generation of the ICE, and in 100 years from now, civilization might look back at us and laugh and say “look at those idiots driving around in those big huge V8 engines, burning all that fuel and polluting the air, what morons!” … It’s almost as if we have set ourselves up to be the outcasts of the future, sort of like how we look down upon what once used to be prosperous jobs of the beginning of this country. You would never walk into a room in today’s world and tell everyone your about to go whaling, because they would probably spear you to death faster then you could run out of the room! This same idea applies to what the future holds for us, because in 100 years from now, some kid isn’t going to go walking into a room and tell everyone he’s been tooling around in his HEMI because they too would probably spear him death faster then he can run to his car! Because hey, we are living in a world that believes that driving hybrid cars and engines that run on tea leaves are what’s going to stop global warming! So to those of us who appreciate the power and the dynamics of internal combustion engines, don’t give in to the government, keep it and hold on to it for as long as you can, because it might be worth a pretty penny in the future. I mean after all, tea leaves probably can fuel some sort of a car right?
